Discreetly Clean Your Teeth

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Brushing your teeth when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed is almost automatic for most people.

Many people also brush right after meals, but when you’re out and about at the myriad holiday parties and gatherings that happen this time of year, it’s hard to fit in brushing, especially if you’re not hosting the party and are in someone else’s home or at an event.

It may seem like too big of a hassle, but there are actually some very simple ways to make brushing while you’re out both quick and easy. Here are some tips to get you brushing from anywhere Santa’s sleigh may take you:

Keep it small and simple. You may love your electric toothbrush at home, but you probably don’t have room on your desk for the charger. Buy a travel-sized tooth brush and toothpaste for a quick, post-party cleaning. You can keep it in your desk drawer, car console, briefcase, or makeup bag.

While you’re at it… It’s much easier to brush while you’re at it, that is, while you are already on your way to do something else. Whether you’re headed to the break room or the restroom, bring your toothbrush with you. So long as you have access to a sink and hand soap for a pre-brush hand washing, it’s a perfect time to brush.

Keep it discreet. Some people find it a little odd when they see someone brushing their teeth in a public restroom, so be mindful or others. If needed, keep it shorter than normal. Even though two minutes is recommended for normal brushing, every little bit helps. Don’t be afraid to do a quick, one-minute once over with your toothbrush followed by a fresh water rinse.

Something is better than nothing. In a perfect world, you’d have the time and space for a full brush, floss and mouthwash rinse, but the fact is that’s not always possible. Just remember that something is better than nothing. If you can’t brush, at least rinse with water and chew some sugar free gum to help get some of the sugars off your teeth. In the end, you’ll enjoy your holiday shindigs even more knowing you can stay healthy while having fun and enjoying some tasty treats.
