Simple DIY Natural Toothpaste

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Whether you are looking to save money, avoid the chemicals in store bought toothpaste, or just simply have fun making natural toothpaste – we’ve got some simple steps for your next home project. In just a few minutes, you can be brushing your teeth with healthy, natural toothpaste made from items that might already be in your cupboard!

  • 2/3 cup baking soda
  • 1 tsp. fine sea salt
  • 1-2 tsp. peppermint extract (or any other natural flavor)
  • filtered water

Simply stir ingredients together and add the filtered water to your desired consistency. You can add less or more peppermint flavor, depending on your preference! This amount will make the equivalent of a 5.3 oz. tube of toothpaste.

You can use any covered container to store the finished paste, but if you replace peppermint extract with essential oils, consider using a glass jar. Make sure to store this in a dark, temperate area so the oils do not degrade.
