Veneers are the up and coming dental alternative to caps and/or crowns, and we have all of the information you have ever wanted to know about them.

WHO: Almost anyone can get veneers, but it is important to talk to your dentist before deciding to get veneers because everyone’s mouth is different.

WHAT: Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are adhered to your tooth with light curing treatment. They are similar to a cap or crown with their strength and natural look; however, they are less invasive.

WHERE: Veneers can be placed on any tooth/teeth in your mouth. It is up to you and your dentist where you put them, but keep in mind not all dentist offices are equipped for this procedure, so you may need to do some research.

WHY: Why should you get veneers? This is all about personal situations and preferences. They can be used to cosmetically enhance your smile by straightening, brightening or filling in gaps. They can also be used if a tooth has been chipped or lost its strength. Just remember that veneers do slowly show wear and tear no matter how well you take care of them, and need to be replaced every 10-20 years.

HOW: Start this process by consulting your dentist, and keep in mind that veneers cost between $800-1,200 per tooth. If you decide to move forward, your dentist will take a mold of your tooth/teeth, a layer of your enamel will be removed to make room for the veneer, then the veneer is adhered to the tooth with light curing treatment.

Make sure you weigh your options before making this decision because veneers are irreversible. No matter what you decide, keep sharing your beautiful smile with the world!
