Nerve

The tissue that conveys sensation, temperature and position information to the brain.

Night Guard

An acrylic appliance used to prevent wear and damage to the temporomandibular joint caused by the grinding or gnashing of teeth during sleep.

Nitrous Oxide

A gas used to reduce patient anxiety.

Novocain

The older brand name for a local anesthetic, currently replaced by safer, more effective agents.

NSAID

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, often used as a dental analgesic.
