Sources even report the first references were in 1908! Some parents are hesitant to tell children about the Tooth Fairy because she is not real. However, a poll showed that 75% of children reported liking the tradition even after they found out that the Tooth Fairy was not real. Why is it such a good idea to have the Tooth Fairy visit your home?

She teaches the importance of taking care of your teeth. Learning that the Tooth Fairy wants clean, healthy teeth will help motivate kids to brush and floss regularly, and think twice about eating cavity-causing candies.

She can reinforce good behavior regularly. It’s ok for the Tooth Fairy to visit more often than when a tooth is lost she can leave notes of encouragement anytime. If your child has been doing a good job, have the Tooth Fairy leave a little note of praise to keep up the good work.

She introduces lessons in finance. The earnings from the Tooth Fairy will likely be your kids first connections to money. You can use this to teach them about the value of money, saving, and budgeting so they can make their own purchases in the future.
