Back to School Shopping Essentials

With school just around the corner, there’s a ton of preparation to be done. Along with setting up carpool, signing up for sports and music lessons, and finding a tutor or two, there’s the stressful task of back-to-school shopping.

And while that long list of school “necessities” can seem daunting, fear not! Below are some tips on how to make sure you have the necessary essentials to start another year.

What do you have available?

For starters, take quick inventory of what you already have in the house. There’s always more than you think sitting on shelves or in closets. Watercolor sets, mini staplers, and a 48-color crayon pack are the type of items that didn’t get used too many times (if any). Dig them up and get them ready for another year.

Make a list

Invest in the essentials.

    1. Pencils
    2. Erasers
    3. Pens
    4. Washable Markers (a parent’s favorite)
    5. Highlighters

Three-ringed notebooks, binders, and folders are also highly encouraged as the kids get older. Plus, the better you set them up to organize, the more organized they’ll be, right?!

Back to School Outfits

Now, don’t forget the other part of back-to-school shopping: clothes and shoes. With kids constantly growing or wearing out their favorite things, it’s good to take an inventory of the kids’ closets.

The same idea holds true: essentials are key. Items like jeans, leggings, cotton t-shirts, socks, undies (plenty of them!) are some of the most used items during the school year. Also, don’t forget to have a couple of hoodies for chillier days and a larger, thicker coat on call for winter months. As for shoes, you can never go wrong with investing in a solid pair of sneakers.

With all the essentials on your shopping list, take advantage of back-to-school sales and coupons to really save this year! Good luck, and here’s to another school year!
