No matter the season, there are many reasons to celebrate throughout the year. Of course, celebrations usually mean picture-taking. Is your smile ready for its close-up? Here’s how to get it into shape.

Exercise your smile muscles.

One of the best ways to get a great smile is with exercise. Smile as wide as you can and hold it for about 5 seconds. Repeat this 10-12 times. Another good trick is to pucker your lips and the pull them back into your mouth so they wrap over your teeth. Repeat this 10-12 times as well.

Practice makes perfect.

Now, start practicing your smile. In front of a mirror, test out different shapes and angles until you find one that works best for you. Try making your smile look as genuine as possible. Then, practice posing for the camera. One universal good pose is with your head angled slightly to the side, to avoid facing the camera head on.

Don’t say cheese.

When the photographer is getting ready to snap the picture, keep some additional things in mind. First, don’t say, cheese because this often results in strange and forced smiles. Also, quickly run your tongue over you teeth right before the picture is taken. This will help make your teeth sparkle.
