A Disease That Is 90 Percent Curable Will Kill Over 10,000 Americans This Year

It’s hard to believe that a 90 percent curable disease will still kill more than one person every hour, 24 hours a day, all year long, but it’s true.

This year, 51,540 people will be diagnosed with oral cancer, with almost one fifth dying from it. Early detection is key in changing this statistic and the needless deaths associated with it.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month and you can celebrate by reminding your loved ones that going to the dentist is about more than preventing cavities. Many people don’t realize that a regular dental cleaning can be the only way to learn of a severe medical condition like cancer.
