How Smelling Your Breath Can Help You Listen To Your Body

What goes on in your mouth can tell you a lot about your overall health. Whoever said, “the mouth is the gateway to the body” wasn’t wrong.

While it’s hard to see and maybe even notice, when particles of food are left in your mouth, bacteria begins to grow on your tongue, gums and in between your teeth. Not a lovely image, we know. Other not-so-great images: being known as the stinky breath person at work; making a poor first impression; jeopardizing your own health and wellbeing.

If you brush and floss daily and have a good mouthwash on hand (all which remove the bacteria causing bad breath) and the odor doesn’t improve, it’s time to call in the professionals to make sure something more serious isn’t going on. Some diseases can cause bad breath, such as diabetes, sinus infections and even some cancers, so paying attention to your breath is not just about keeping up appearances.

Whether professionally, personally or physically, bad breath can be an issue, so listen to what your body and breath are telling you and take action.
